RIP HyperCard, 1987-2004

· by Alex Allee · News

HyperCard, the application that launched many a Mac user into the field of programming, was finally discontinued yesterday. While the application hadnit even been updated for use under OS X (according to some, it was never fully updated for use with color displays), HyperCard Studio remained for sale in Appleis online store, along with a page on Appleis site dedicated to the software. Apple even stocked the software at its campus store in Cupertino.

If youid like to read more on the subject, Slashdot has a discussion going. Slashdot also links to a eulogy for the software posted at ex-Apple employee Tim Orenis site, and a post from PythonCard developer Kevin Altis.
