Radio Transmitter/Decoder Alpha For OS X Released

Black Cat Systems has released a new alpha version of MultiMode OSX, bringing it to version 4.0.0a8. MultiMode is a short wave and ham radio message transmitter and decoder. The recent alpha version includes some of the features, but not all features found in the Classic version. According to Black Cat Systems:

Version 4.0.0a8 of MultiMode OSX has been released. This is still an alpha version, and does not contain all of the features of the Mac OS version of MultiMode.

MultiMode is an application which allows your Macintosh to decode and transmit several different modes of non-voice communication often heard on shortwave and ham radio. It is the only program of its kind for the Macintosh, rivaling commercial packages for the PC platform costing hundreds of dollars. It is ideal for amateur radio operators, shortwave radio listeners, and other radio enthusiasts. MultiMode is localized for for Dutch, French, German, Italian, and Spanish, in addition to English.

MultiMode supports the following modes:

  • Morse Code (CW)
  • QRSS (Slow speed CW)
  • RTTY (Baudot)
  • ASCII
  • SITOR-A
  • SITOR-B / FEC / NAVTEX
  • SSTV (Slow Scan TV)
  • WEATHER / SATELLITE FAX
  • ACARS (Aircraft Communications)
  • Packet (300 and 1200 baud)
  • PSK31
  • ALE (Automatic Link Establishment)
  • DTMF (touch tone), CCIR, EIA Tone Modes
  • Hellschreiber
  • Audio Spectrum Display / FFT Mode
