Rendezvous Name Fails to Save

Apple has added a new article to the Knowledge Base regarding the inability of Rendezvous to use a name with a period. Appleis Knowledge Base (sometimes referred to as the KBase) is a central location for all of Appleis support documents and other important information.

If you give your computer a Rendezvous name with a period in in, you will not be presented with an error message, but the name will not be saved. Acccording to Apple, the only solution is to not use periods in your computeris Rendezvous name. From Apple:

Symptom

You enter a Rendezvous name that includes a period in the Sharing preference pane. When you subsequently go to a different preference pane and then return to the Sharing pane, you discover the Rendezvous name was not saved.

Products affected

  • Mac OS X 10.2 or later

Solution
