Report: Apple to Move Entire MacBook Line to LED by 2009

· by · News

Apple will be moving its entire MacBook product line to LED backlighting in 2009, according to a translated story of a report of a third party companyis claims. Kenmos Technology told the Chinese language newspaper Economic Daily News that Apple would be making the switch, and that his company would be providing the BLUs, or LED Backlight Units. That report was then translated by DigitTimes.

Apple currently uses LED backlighting in the MacBook Pro line, and if this report is correct, it will take approximately another year to be able to bring the technology to the rest of the MacBook line. LEDs have the benefit of using less power and of being considered a greener technology than other backlighting schemes.
