Runtime Releases Revolution Media, Revolution 2.7

Runtime Revolution Ltd. on Tuesday updated its development environment Revolution to version 2.7 and released Revolution Media, a rich media development tool.

New features in Revolution 2.7 include new object blending abilities, more than 20 new blend modes, window level transitions, additional image rendering options, anti-aliasing within the graphics engine, multi-monitor support and more. Upgrade pricing is US$66 (the Dreamcard version), $199 (Studio) and $499 (Enterprise).

Revolution Media is based on the Revolution 2.7 release; it enables developers to create on one platform and deploy with Revolution Player. In a prepared statement, company CEO Kevin Miller explained the reasoning behind the product: "Weive received extensive feedback from 2D and 3D graphics artists who want to get into interactive media but are overwhelmed with the complexity of products like Flash, or the unintuitive learning curve of a traditional language like BASIC."

Revolution Media comes with ready-to-use projects that include a portfolio builder, a kiosk and an adventure game maker. It will ship by the end of February for $49.
