SEC Investigating Dell

· by · News

Dell announced on Wednesday that the U.S. SEC has launched a forma investigation into the company. Forbes reports that Dell also announced that it is postponing its third quarter earnings report, but the delay is unrelated to the investigation.

The SEC started an informal inquiry into PC computer maker in August, and only recently transitioned into the formal investigation. Dell representatives claim they do not know specifically what is being investigated.

Dellis stock has been suffering lately, and the SEC investigation isnit likely to help the companyis situation. It reported disappointing earnings in its second quarter, and still hasnit filed reports with regulatory officials because it is trying to resolve accounting issues.

A recall of about 4 million defective batteries that Sony manufactured hit the company hard, too, and it also lost its top PC manufacturing ranking recently to rival Hewlett-Packard.
