Seagate Debuts High-Speed 120GB Laptop Drives

Seagate Technology announced late Monday an expansion of its notebook hard disc drive line, bumping capacities up to 120 gigabytes (GB).

Highlighting Seagateis notebook product line are 7,200- and 5,400-rpm models that provide the highest capacities available -- 100GB and 120GB, respectively -- in laptop drives.

The three new models are the Momentus 7200.1, offered in capacities up to 100GB at 7,200-rpm, the Momentus 5400.2, available in capacities up to 120GB with 5,400-rpm speeds, and the Momentus 4200.2, available in capacities up to 120GB.

Seagate also is offering Serial ATA as an option for Momentus 5400.2 and Momentus 7200.1 drives to deliver a 1.5 gigabits per second interface speed and NCQ (Native Command Queuing).
