Skype for Mac v. 2.6 Beta Released

Skype has released a beta of Skype, version 2.6. The new beta focuses on increased quality and stability.

The new version also includes a new Call Transfer feature, a Mac OS X exclusive, that allows the user to effortlessly transfer an ongoing Skype call to other members of the Skype contact list.

New features in this version that were previously only available on the Windows version include:

  • Join public chats
  • Chat typing indicator - see when others are writing a message
  • Call any Skype Prime premium services provider and pay with Skype credit
  • Automatic Updates ? get new features and updates without having to go to Skype?s website to download
  • DTMF tones for automatic answering services available also during Skype-to-Skype calls

Skype 2.6 Beta requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later, a broadband connection and a microphone. The Skype software is free.
