SoftRAID Releases Key Fixes for Intel Macs

· by · News

SoftRAID LLC relased a new version of SoftRAID for PPC and Intel Macs on Friday, version 3.6.2, and it includes key fixes for the Intel version to improve reliability and usability in Mac OS X Tiger. Support for Mac OS X 10.5, Leopard has also been improved.

Tim Standing, V.P. of Engineering, told TMO that some bugs were found in Mac OS X 10.4 that affected the Intel Macs and SoftRAID operations. While these bugs are being fixed by Apple, version 3.6.2 address the problems and makes booting much more reliable.

Appleis Mac OS X Disk Utility supplies a minimalist RAID function, however, SoftRAID goes far beyond Appleis utility. A comparison chart, showing the differences is at the SoftRAID Website.

SoftRAID 3.6.2 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later. The electronic version is priced at US$129 and a version on CD is priced at US$149 plus shipping and handling. A demo verson is available.
