Sony Puts Exec in Charge of Product Safety

Sony has shifted TV division president Makoto Kogure into a role overseeing product safety and quality, according to an IDG News report. The news comes as the company faces recalls of nearly six million Apple and Dell laptop batteries that will cost it billions of yen (US$171 to $256 million).

A Sony spokesman commented: "Obviously the batteries are an issue but itis not intended that he will focus on batteries and batteries alone. Itis something weive been wanting to upgrade for sometime and batteries will be one of the responsibilities."
