Sony Snags Former Apple Media VP

Sony announced on Thursday that it has hired former Apple VP of Interactive Media, Tim Schaaff, to fill its Senior Vice President of Software Development position. He will be responsible for developing the user interfaces for Sony products.

Mr. Scaaffis responsibilities when he was at Apple included overseeing the development and maintenance of QuickTime. Prior to his time at Apple, he worked on the development of the Synclavier music synthesizer for New England Digital.

Sir Howard Stringer, Chairman and CEO of Sony Corporation, commented "Timis expertise is a vital addition to the Sony team, and he will be responsible for developing and deploying a unified, intuitive Sony ilook and feeli to user interfaces and functionality across our entire product line."
