Symantec CEO: Buy a Mac

Symantec CEO John Thompson, in response to a question about Macs posed during the Future in Review conference on Monday, said: "We think more people ought to buy them." However, while Windows offers a "target-rich" environment for malicious activity, hackers and virus writers could turn their attention to Macs if Apple ups its market share, he noted.

Tom Krazit, writing about the conference for CNET, said that Mr. Thompson also pointed out that phishing is becoming a more common means of electronic theft, and it is not reliant on any particular operating system. "We shouldnit assume that any one technology at any layer is sufficient to protect our notion of a connected world," he quoted Mr. Thompson as saying.
