The Fink project has released version 0.7.1 of its binary distribution. Fink allows the user to install a wide variety of Open Source software on their OS X Macs. The new version features over 1,650 packages, including KDE 3.1.4 and Gnome 2.4, as well as improved documentation in French, Japanese, and simplified Chinese. From the Fink project:
The Fink project is proud to announce the availability of a new binary distribution, version 0.7.1.
This release contains:
- Over 1650 pre-compiled packages including:
- Binaries for KDE 3.1.4
- Binaries for GNOME 2.4
- Improved documentation from the Fink website including translations into French, Japanese and simplified Chinese.
- Various speed and feature improvements to the package manager fink including the addition of a versatile Variants system.

Fink 0.7.1 is available now as a free download. Version 0.7.1 requires OS X 10.3, while versions 0.6.3 and 0.4.1 remain available for users of OS X 10.2 and 10.1, respectively.
