Toast 7 Supports Blu-ray on Macs

· by · News

Sonic Solutions announced on Tuesday that the CD and DVD creation application, Toast 7, includes Blu-ray Disc (BD) support. The BD version of Toast will come bundled with new Blu-ray Disc recordable (BD-R) and rewritable (BD-RW) drives due to hit store shelves later this year.

Toast 7 with BD support includes Toast Dynamic Writing, which lets users mount a blank BD-R or BD-RW disc on their desktop and copy files to it just like any other removable media, and is also a Universal Binary application, supporting both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.

Blu-ray discs are capable of holding up to 50GB of data on a disk that is the same size as a standard DVD. In comparison, the DVD-R and DVD-RW discs available today can hold up to 4.7GB of information.
