The popular, versatile open-source VLC media player has been updated to 0.8.0, its first significant update in months. The software, which enables Mac users to view a variety of media formats (DivX, XviD, WMV, etc.) without any additional software has undergone a number of enhancements.
Among these new features are a faster and more flexible input layer, improved transcoding, a plug-ins cache to speed-up VLC launch time, vastly improved subtitles, OSD and DVD support, Multipart JPEG webcam support, an audio equalizer and more.
