Wacom Introduces New Intuos Tablets

Wacom introduced Wednesday its new line of Intuos3 Pen Tablets, which feature built-in ExpressKeys and Zoom/Scroll Touch Strips, among other new additions.

ExpressKeys consist of the on-board keyboard modifiers Ctrl, Alt, Shift, and Spacebar, which are all customizable, while Touch Strips serve to allow users quick access to zoom and scroll functions with their non-dominant hand while they work.

The redesigned Intuos also features a new industrial design, high-gloss transparent surface, redesigned Grip Pen with a larger rubber barrel, an improved ergonomic mouse, and double the resolution at 5000 lines per inch.

A new software bundle includes Adobe Photoshop Elements 2, Corel Painter Essentials 2, and the nik Color Efex Pro 2 IE plug-in. Optional Intuos3 accessories include the Airbrush, an Inking Pen, and a new kit of accessories for customizing the Intuos3 Grip Pen.

"Intuos3 is a major step forward in state-of-the-art computer input systems for serious photographers and graphics professionals," said Mark Mehall, Sr. Product Manager of Wacom, which has sold more than 2 million tablets since the company opened its doors in 1988.

Intuos3 will be available exclusively with a USB interface by the middle of September in three sizes. Prices include: $199.99 (4x5), $329.99 (6x8), and $449.99 (9x12).
