· by · News

Yahoo! updated its Yahoo! Mail Web-based email service on Monday to support sending free text messages to cell phones. Users can also now send instant messages from their Yahoo! Mail account to Yahoo! Messenger and Windows Live Messenger users.

The new text messaging service supports cell phone numbers in the United States, Canada, India, and the Philippines.

The Yahoo! Mail update also improves speed and performance, improves searches, adds the ability to quickly create events for Yahoo! Calendars from email messages, and more. Yahoo! Mail is free, and offers unlimited email storage space.
