AirPort Utility Update Adds 802.11ac Basestation Support

AirPort Utility adds 802.11ac Basestation SupportApple released updates for the Mac, iPhone and iPad versions of AirPort Utility late on Monday following the release of the redesigned 802.11ac-compatible AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule Basestations. The update added support for the new wireless network routers.

According to Apple's release notes, "AirPort Utility 6.3 allows you to configure and manage the new AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule with 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and includes enhanced remote management capabilities."

Along with AirPort Utility 6.3 for the Mac, Apple also released AirPort Utility 1.3 for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Like the Mac version, the new iOS update added support for managing the new 802.11ac-compatible AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule Basestations.

Apple also released AirPort Base Station and Time Capsule Firmware Update 7.7.1 for the just released 802.11ac-compatible models to address an issue where hard drives connected via USB could stop responding.

AirPort Utility 6.3 for the Mac is available via the Software Update application or as a download at the Apple Support website. AirPort Utility 1.3 for iOS is available as a free download at Apple's iTunes-based App Store, and the update is available through the App Store app.
