AirPort Extreme Base Station Gets Dual Band Support

· by · Product News

Apple updated its AirPort Extreme 802.11n Base Station on Tuesday with support for dual-band Wi-Fi access. The update lets the Base Station support up to 50 users on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz radio bands at the same time, which should offer better range and data transfer speeds.

The new new model also supports guest networking so that you can allow people to use your Internet connection without giving them access to the rest of your network. It offers printer sharing and hard drive sharing via its built-in USB 2.0 port, supports WPA/WPA2 and 128-bit WEP security.

Apple's AirPort Extreme Base Station is available now, and is priced at US$179.
