If you plan on upgrading to iOS 8 you need to make sure your device is compatible, and you need to back up your device, too. iOS 8 is compatible with the iPhone 4s or newer, iPad 2 or newer, and the fifth generation iPod touch.

The Mac Observer has a handy guide with what you need to know before upgrading to iOS 8. Spoiler: Backup, backup, backup.

You can find the iOS 8 update by tapping settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, and then tap General. Now tap Software Update. If the update is available, you'll see an option to start the installation process.
