Apple released iTunes 10.7 on Wednesday following the introduction of the iPhone 5, Retina Display iPod touch, and seventh generation iPod nano. The new version of iTunes added support for iOS 6, which will be available on September 19.

According to Apple's release notes, "iTunes 10.7 adds support for iOS 6 running on compatible iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch models.  This update also adds support for the latest iPod nano and iPod shuffle models."

What the update doesn't include is the feature list for iTunes 11, which will ship some time in October. That version of iTunes will include a redesigned user interface that more closely matches the iPhone and iPad versions of the app, will sync the user's current place in songs, videos, audio books and podcasts between devices, and more.

iTunes 10.7 requires iOS 10.6.8 or newer and Safari 4.0.3 or newer. It's available as a free download at the Apple website, and should be available through Software Update soon, too.
