Apple Retail Expands Trade-Ins to Non-Apple Phones

Apple has expanded its in-store trade-in program to include non-Apple smartphones. According to AppleInsider, that trade-in program will now accept even that lame Android device you weren't able to give away to your friends and family.

Apple stores will already take any Apple product as either a trade-in toward a new product, or just to donate the device and safely recycle the components. That program now takes in current and recent Android and Blackberry devices, including recent models from Samsung and HTC, makers of the Nexus series. Currently the program is available at Apple retail locations in the US, UK, France, and Italy.

This is the latest of Apple’s attempts to pave the path to iOS, already offering a guide on how to move content from Android to iOS. Apple consistently reports significant numbers of switchers whenever they report sales, with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus seeing dramatic conversion rates.
