Apple's online store was replaced with the familiar "Back Soon" notice Tuesday morning ahead of the company's media event where it's expected to introduce a smaller form factor iPad model.

According to rumors, Apple's still unannounced small iPad will sport a 7.85-inch multi-touch display, although it isn't expected to offer Retina Display resolution like the 9.7-inch iPad. The new model is expected to include Apple's new Lightning connector like the iPhone 5 and new iPod touch, front and rear-facing cameras, built-in WiFi and 3G/4G wireless options and more.
