Apple to Beats: Welcome to the Family

Apple gave Beats Music an official "welcome to the family" on Friday with a special page on the company's website. The iPhone and iPad maker has been in the process of buying Beats and Apple just bought Vivendi's stake in the company, too.

The special Beats webpage on Apple's site said,

Today we are excited to officially welcome Beats Music and Beats Electronics to the Apple family. Music has always held a special place in our hearts, and we're thrilled to join forces with a group of people who love it as much as we do. Beats cofounders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre have created beautiful products that have helped millions of people deepen their connection to music. We're delighted to be working with the team to elevate that experience even further.

And we can't wait to hear what's next.

The new Apple webpage comes along with a relaunched Beats by Dre website that says, "There's a new instrument in the Apple family." Beats has also moved its online headphone sales to Apple's web-based store.

The message Beats is giving to its customers states,

Starting today, we at Beats are fortunate to add our instrument to this legacy by joining Apple. The products we build together will allow us to reimagine sound once again and to continue this great tradition of bringing imagination to life.

Apple announced in March it was buying Beats Music and Beast Electronics for US$3 billion, and just completed buying out Vivendi's 13 percent stake in Beats for $404 million. Beats CEO and co-founder Jimmy Iovine, as well as co-founder Dr. Dre, are joining the Apple team.

With today's relaunched Beats website and Apple's new Beats welcome page, it looks like it's official: Beats is now part of Apple.
