Apple introduced the new Apple TV with support for third party apps during a media event in San Francisco on September 9. The new model also ships with a redesigned remote that supports Siri voice commands. It won't go on sale until some time this fall, which gives developers a head start on getting their apps ready.

According to the email Apple sent developers, they'll be charged US$1 to verify their billing address which will be used for shipping. Their developer kit will ship within three days after that for free.

For the rest of us, it'll be fall before we get the new Apple TV in our hands. We'll also pay $149 for the 32 GB model, and $199 for the 64 GB version.
