Apple TV to Live Stream Tuesday's Media Event

Apple TV owners woke up to a little surprise Tuesday morning thanks to a new Apple Events icon that appeared overnight on their television screens. The icon leads to today's media event where the company is expected to unveil a smaller form factor iPad.

Along with the promise of today's media event, the new icon also includes links to previous Apple media events.

Apple is expected to use the event to add to the iPad lineup with a 7.85-inch model, and possibly replace the 30-pin dock connector on the full-size iPad with the new Lightning connector. Some rumors claim new Retina MacBook Pro and iMac models will make an appearance, too.

It looks like the live stream for today's media event can be viewed without an Apple TV, too. MacStories found the direct link Apple TV is using for the stream, which means anyone with an Internet connection and Web browser should be able to watch live, too.

The Mac Observer's Dave Hamilton is in San Jose and will be live covering the event from the California Theater. The media event is scheduled to start at 10AM pacific time on Tuesday, October 23.
