Apple to Shareholders: You get 47 Cents!

Apple shareholders will be getting a dividend this quarter, according to company CFO Luca Maestri, to the tune of US$0.47 per share. Mr. Maestri shared that little tidbit during the iPhone and iPad maker's third fiscal quarter earnings report Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Maestri told investors,

Apple's board of directors has declared a cash dividend of $.47 per share of the Company's common stock. The dividend is payable on August 14, 2014, to shareholders of record as of the close of business on August 11, 2014.

Apple reported $7.7 billion in earnings for the quarter on revenue of $37.4 billion. jThe company's earnings per share (EPS) was up 20 percent year-over-year.

The company reported selling 35.2 million iPhones during the quarter, up 12.6 percent year-over-year. iPad sames were down 9.2 percent at 13.3 million units, and Macs were uo 17.6 percent year-over-year at 4.4 million.

Apple closed on Tuesday at $94.72, up 0.78 (0.83%). The company's stock is trading down 0.47 (0.50%) after hours at $94.25.

By my rough calculation it seems to be about the same as before the split.

Exactly the same: $3.27 per pre-split share. By Apple’s schedule, it will stay at that price until next spring.

Staying the same is good. The last dividend was up from the one before.
