Apple Updates 2013 MacBook Pro Firmware to Address Trackpad, Keyboard, Graphics Issues

Apple released firmware updates for MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, late 2013) and MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, late 2013) models with NVIDIA graphics to address two different sets of issues. The 13-inch MBP update fixes problems with the trackpad and keyboard, while the 15-inch model update addressed a problem with the discrete graphics processor.

The update for 13-inch models is titled "MacBook Pro Retina EFI Update v1.3" and is a 4.64MB download from Apple's site. The patch notes:

This update is recommended for MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, late 2013) models.

This update addresses an issue where the built-in keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad may become unresponsive.

 

The firmware update for 15-inch MBP's is called "MacBook Pro Retina EFI Update v1.2" and is a 5.22MB download from Apple's site. The patch notes:

This update is recommended for MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, late 2013) models with NVIDIA graphics.

This update addresses an issue which, in rare cases, may limit the performance of the discrete graphics processor after a system wake or boot.

The updates should be available through the Mac App Store if you have one of these models.
