· by · News

iTunes Haiti ReliefApple added a page for making donations to Haiti relief efforts to the iTunes Store on Monday. The company pledged that 100% of donations made through iTunes will go to the American Red Cross.

"Your gift to the American Red Cross will support emergency relief efforts to help those affected by this earthquake," the company said on the page.

Apple also noted that The American Red Cross will not have access to payment information from individuals, which means the organization will not be able to individually recognize your donation. On the other hand, Apple is offering a mechanism that it is guaranteeing is not a scam, and where all of your money goes directly to the Red Cross.

Currently there are denominations of US$5, $10, $25, $50, $100, and $200.

I contributed through iTunes after Katrina, and am glad to see this service available for the victims of Haiti. Every little bit helps.
