Apple on Wednesday sent out invitations to the media to attend a special event at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City on January 19 at 10:00 AM Eastern time.
Beyond the words “Join us for an education announcement,” it’s not clear exactly what Apple will be discussing, but speculation has been feverish that the company will enter the textbook arena. Over at Wired’s Gadget Lab, Charlie Sorrel noted that in Walter Isaacson’s biography of Steve Jobs, the late CEO said he “wanted to disrupt the textbook industry” and had it in his sights as “the next business he wanted to transform.”
