Apple Attends CES in an Unofficial Capacity

| CES

Unsurprisingly, Apple employees are walking the show floor at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show, according to a source who told Reuters that more than 250 of the tech giant’s employees are registered to attend. Apple has no official presence at the trade show.

One of the Apple employees in attendance is apparently head of iOS product marketing Greg Joswiak, who was spotted at the Sony booth.

Also unsurprisingly, Reuters was unable to get an official comment from Apple regarding the matter.

Since courts worldwide seem to allow any copycat to use another company’s intellectual property and even mimic the look and feel of others’ devices without real consequences, it appears this business environment requires companies to imitate, borrow or steal others’ technology ideas.

While Apple has not been innocent of this behavior (e.g.; Sherlock and others), it’s interesting that they sent such a large number of employees to CES.

Sherlock is a poor example. Watson came about after Sherlock. It essentially borrowed what Sherlock offered and made it better. It, however, was unreasonable for the makers of Watson to expect Apple to not update Sherlock as Apple updated its OS every year.
