Apple Confirms White iPhone 4 Will Ship End of July in “Limited Quantities”

| News

Apple will begin shipping the white iPhone 4 model at the end of July. SlashGear reported that Apple CEO Steve Jobs said the white version of the device will be available in “limited quantities” at that time.

The company had announced the white and black versions of the iPhone 4 at the same time, but then said a delay in the shipping date on June 23rd, with today’s announcement from Mr. Jobs marking a confirmation that the device will ship in July.

“White models of Apple’s new iPhone 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected,” the company said in a statement on June 23rd. “As a result they will not be available until the second half of July. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.”

The “second half of July” is now officially “the end of July,” for those waiting.

“The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.?

Heh. Here in Boston, you literally cannot walk into any Apple or AT&T store in the greater Boston area and buy an iPhone 4. You can only get on a waiting list with noone able to tell you how long before you can get a phone. They are going out the door as soon as they arrive.

I have a fundamental aversion to waiting lists (goes back to my college days) and will wait until I can actually purchase one same day.
