Apple Finally Promotes Beatles on iTunes in New Commercial

| News

Apple is finally promoting The Beatles music library at the iTunes Store, just over a year after the Fab Four made their first appearance on the music download store. The band’s music library hit the iTunes Store on November 16, 2010, and marked the first time their songs were legitimately available for download.

Apple’s first Beatles promotion included a special webpage and tribute video. Despite complaints that the band’s works were kept out of the download market for so long, and as a result might not sell well, they managed to claim 14 of the iTunes Store’s top 40 album slots on day one.

The ad features “Magical Mystery Tour” and animates the band’s album covers without any voiceovers. It’s available for viewing at the Apple website.

What do you mean by “finally”? Apple had at least four different Beatles on iTunes commercials when they first announced them. They can still be seen from a year ago on Apple’s YouTube page.

This ad promotes the Beatles music that is in the iTunes Store, not the Beatles as people.

All I got by following the link ( http://www.apple.com/itunes/videos/#beatles-spot ) was a blank video screen that never loaded.  Tried it on Firefox and Opera with the same result.

Is the URL incomplete, possibly?

This one is working for me, so the link is correct. As I did with the panorama I recommend you send a bug report to Apple. It is under the Safari menu.

Er, ah…are there more than four?!  I guess there was a drummer before Ringo…  smile

Thanks, but I don’t use Safari.  I use mostly Firefox, and occasionally Opera and Chrome.  Should I conclude from these two incidents that Apple’s complete web site is only available to Safari users?

@iJack: Works fine in Firefox for me. (OS 10.5.8, FF 8.0.1) Maybe your Firefox is out of date, or settings need tweaking?

I’m running on 10.7.2, with the same FF version as you.  I can’t begin to imagine what settings would cause this, as I watch a lot of web video, and this is the first time I have had any problems with the Apple web site.

In any event, the Beatles commercial works just fine today, although I still can’t see the Grand Central Apple Store 360 panorama linked from another TMO thread.

Life is a puzzle.
