· by · News

Apple released the second preview version of its Xcode 4 developer preview on Thursday. The preview version of Apple’s developer environment includes tools for coding Mac, iPhone and iPad applications with a streamlined interface.

“Xcode 4 has a brand new user interface, built upon proven technologies that Apple itself uses to build Mac OS X and iOS, and that have produced over a quarter million Mac, iPhone, and iPad apps,” according to Apple’s Developer Web site.

The developer preview includes automatic code fixing as you type, a unified interface for building code and interfaces, and includes iOS SDK 4.

Xcode 4 Developer Preview 2 is available to Apple Developer Program members at the Apple Web site.

It looks like this is only available to paid memberships.

But if you’re curious, I wouldn’t know where to find a free download. *cough*GoGoogleiModzoneXcode4*cough*.

Seriously though, LLVM is the coolest thing since sliced bread and I’m really loving this new Xcode. For end users it means magically faster apps from the exact same code thanks to the new LLVM compiler that is replacing GCC, and less buggy code/crashing apps since the Debugger (LLDB) and the new static analyzer are simply awesome.

No thanks. I need a hacked installer like I need another hole in my head.

Thankfully Snow Leopard has trojan detection built in wink. But in all honesty it’s not worth it for a trojan writer to infect something that only 200 people are going to download..and then have their developer account traced to their actions.
