Apple Hires Wearable Tech Guru

Apple’s crop of recent hires includes Richard DeVaul, founder and president of AWare Technologies. Mr. DeVaul is known for his work in wearable technology, and will be taking on the title of Senior Prototype Engineer at Apple, according to Computerworld.

Mr. DeVaul has been involved in developing personal heads up display technology, using wearable technology to stimulate memory, and MIT’s wearable computing program. At AWare Technologies, he has worked on high-performance personnel monitoring equipment for the military and Olympic sports groups, and technologies to improve overall fitness.

Apple isn’t saying what projects Mr. DeVaul is involved in, but based on his prior experience, he may be helping the company expand its fitness-based products beyond Nike+iPod.
