Apple unveiled a volume purchase option for businesses that want to purchase multiple copies of apps from the App Store on Thursday. The option, which Apple says is coming soon, will also include support for purchasing customized business-to-business apps from third-party developers.

From Apple’s Business Web site:

Whether you’re providing apps to two employees or ten thousand, the Volume Purchase Program makes it simple to find, buy, and distribute the apps your business needs.

The Volume Purchase Program also provides a way to purchase custom B2B apps built by third-party developers to meet the unique needs of your business.

Apple hasn’t said exactly when the new purchasing options will be available, or how it will manage custom B2B app purchases. Knowing that there will, however, finally be a way to buy apps in bulk is good news for many businesses.
