Apple Launches Reserve and Pick Up Program

November 9th, 2009 at 9:26 AM - News by Jeff Gamet

Apple launched a new service dubbed Reserve and Pick Up that lets customers shop at the online Apple Store and pick up their order at their local Apple retail store. Shoppers can place their orders now and pick them up between December 15 and December 24.

"With Reserve and Pick Up, you can make sure the top things on your list are definitely under the tree. Reserve an iPod or Mac online today and it will be waiting for you to pick up and purchase at an Apple Retail Store from December 15 to 24. You can even have many products wrapped. It's just another way we make it even easier to get through the holiday crowds -- and your gift list," the Apple Web site said.

Products available for reservation include the full iPod line, the iPhone, and all Macs except for the Xserve. Shoppers can choose which store they want to pick up from, so placing an order for a location in a city you're traveling to is an option, and gift wrapping is available for some products, too.

You could always order online and have your Mac or iPod delivered, but going into a local store to pick up an order—especially if you are traveling for the holidays—sounds pretty convenient. I have a feeling this program will work well for Apple and shoppers.

Great! Now we just need an Apple retail store:)

Where are you located, someplace where Verizon has 3G coverage, but AT&T does not? smile

Seriously where are you located? I am fortunate to have 5 Apple Stores in the area, 3 of which are within 10-15 minutes drive time.

I guess my Mom isn’t getting an XServe for XMas this year frown.

Well, Sir Harry, I am located in Norway:) We have an excellent coverage and neither from Verizon nore AT&T, so dropped phone calls is not an issue, but I think the nearest Apple Store is at Le Louvre in Paris=) Not that I would have anything against a trip to Paris, but perhaps a bit too far to pick up an iPod Nano;)

Thanks. Yes, I guess the Apple Stores in England, Germany, or France would be about equidistant from you, but that one at the Louvre would be fun to visit considering the museum and all.

As to picking up an item during the holiday buying frenzy at the shopping malls, well no thanks. I am almost finished with my Christmas gift purchases then I will stay away from the madding crowds.

I have been staying in Paris twice over the past few years, but never got around to visit Le Louvre, but Paris is worth a visit anyhow, even when it rains:)

I wish I could say the same about Christmas shopping but I am afraid we will save it for the month of December, but on the other hand, the nearby cities are small…
As for buying on the Apple Store online, I see that one can at least buy in any store all over Europe now and have it sent to whoever you want in Europe, which is a progress. But we still want to see an Apple Store in Oslo soon =)
