Apple May be Recalling Some Verizon iPads

Apple is apparently recalling some Verizon-compatible iPad 2 models before they make their way into customer’s hands. iPads that are being pulled seem to be in store inventories as well as units being shipped to customers that ordered online.

It seems Apple has provided a list of iPad 2 serial numbers to its retail stores detailing which iPad models are to be pulled from inventory, and so far all of the units are Verizon 3G-compatible models, according to 9 to 5 Mac.

The devices Apple is pulling back aren’t part of an official recall, and the company hasn’t made a statement about whether or not it actually is blocking the sale of specific units in its inventory.

While there isn’t any confirmation, it appears that the pulled units are suffering from a problem where users can’t view or edit account information after activating the tablet’s 3G cellular connection. The issue is apparently hardware-related instead of a software bug and doesn’t seem to be a health or safety problem at this point.
