Apple has posted a new guide to what some of the top iPhone apps broken down into 12 categories. In a new Web site called "Apps for Everything," the company said, "Once you discover the App Store, you'll see how applications can make your iPhone do just about anything. There are thousands of iPhone apps to choose from. Here are a few that will help you get the most out your iPhone, wherever you go."

The 12 categories:

In each category, Apple offers a description several apps, broken down into sub-topics. For instance, on the Apps for Students page, there are tools for school (with three apps mentioned), get an A in organization (two apps), body of knowledge (one app), ace the entrance exam (six apps), and several more sub-topics. Each of the sub-topics comes with a paragraph explaining why and how these apps are useful.

Most of the major sections also include direct links to the Top 10 Paid Apps of that category.

Thanks to Jimmy D and The Loop for the heads up on the new feature.
