Apple Pushes iOS 4.3 GM to Developers

· by · News

Apple pushed out a Golden Master (GM) candidate for iOS 4.3 to developers Wednesday, which is handy in that the company plans to release the new OS to consumers on March 11th, the same day the company releases its newly announced iPad 2.

There’s nothing new in the GM that wasn’t announced during Wednesday’s iPad 2 media event or uncovered in earlier developer releases, but the release of the GM suggests that Apple is on track for the March 11th release date.

Apple’s release note to developers said, “iOS 4.3 adds even more features to the world’s most advanced mobile operating system including faster Safari mobile browsing performance with the Nitro JavaScript engine, iTunes Home Sharing, enhancements to AirPlay, and Personal Hotspot.”

Earlier on Thursday we reported that iOS 4.3 will not support iPhone 3G devices — the update will work on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, iPad 2, and 3rd generation and 4th generation iPod touch.
