Apple Ramps Up iPad Screen Sensor Orders

· by · News

Apple has apparently signed a deal with AU Optronics subsidiary, Cando, for iPad touchscreen sensors to the tune of about a million units a month, according to DigiTimes.

The Cando factory will be devoting nearly all of its production time to supply Apple with 9.7-inch touchscreen sensors for now, but plans to add 10- and 12-inch sensors in the near future for other tablet PCs.

Apple and Cando are keeping tight-lipped over production plans, and DigiTimes sources aren’t always the more reliable. The idea that Apple is looking for more iPad parts suppliers, however, seems plausible since the company is still seeing high demand for its multimedia tablet and will likely want additional inventory for the holiday buying season.
