Apple Releases iTunes 10.1 with AirPlay Support

· by · Product News

Apple released iTunes 10.1 on Friday, adding support for iOS 4.2’s AirPlay video and audio streaming features. The update also added support for iOS 4.2, which is due to be released some time in November.

The notes for iTunes 10.1 also state the update “provides a number of important stability and performance improvements.”

iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users have been watching closely for the iTunes 10.1 update since it’s required for iOS 4.2. Now that the new version of iTunes is out, along with Mac OS X 10.6.5 and its AirPrint wireless printing support, Apple is another step closer to releasing the new iOS update.

iTunes 10.1 is free and available via Apple’s Software Update application and as a downloadable installer at the iTunes Web page.
