Apple Releases, Pulls Apple TV 4.4.1 Update

| News

Apple released Apple TV Update 4.4.1 on Monday to address upgrade issues some users were experiencing after installing the new version 4.4 update. Apple later pulled the 4.4.1 update, however, after reports that users had to restore to earlier software versions to get their Apple TV working again after installing the update.

The update was intended to fix a problem where some Apple TV owners had to connect their device to a computer after installing the 4.4 update. The update followed the release of iOS 5 and added AirPlay Sync and Photo Stream support, along with NHL content and Wall Street Journal Live.

Apple hasn’t said whether or not it plans to re-release the Apple TV 4.4.1 update, or bundle the fixes it included in a future update.

I sure hope that this fiasco is not a foretelling of thIngs to come regarding the quality of product and software from Apple ASJ (After Steve Jobs)! If it is, Apple is doomed.

Hopefully not, but such things also happened under Steve.

I upgraded last night after I couldn’t connect to my own computer following upgrade to Lion. I got a splash screen telling me about the new features but they didn’t appear anywhere. Also still can’t connect to my own computer. Frustrating.

I upgraded my aTv to 4.4 and it began to go to screensaver after 2 minutes( the audio of the netflix still played). Pushing the center button on the remote began the video portion of the movie. I did a workaround (put the screensaver timeout to Never.)but would like my screensaver back!!! Anybody have this or a suggestion on fixing it? thx

Choosing ‘Software Upgrade’ in settings gives the message that my Apple TV is up to date, even though I still have 4.3.  No option to install 4.4.  Did they pull 4.4?

I am having the same issue as SvenbyGolly trying now to reboot and start again, does anyone else have an idea what is going on

I talked to Apple on the 18th and they did pull 4.4 as well as 4.4.1. This stinks… I scheduled a training session on iPads for tomorrow and was uber geeked to use the Air Play mirroring. Now it’s back to the dongle and the awkward VGA cable and separate audio cable.  D’oh!
