Apple Revamps Apple Remote

| Product News

Apple snuck an extra product update into its iMac-fest on Tuesday with the release of a redesigned Apple Remote. The new model sheds its white plastic skin in favor of an aluminum shell that matches the iMac, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

Along with its new body, the Apple Remote's Play/Pause button now sits below the Fast Play/Volume ring beside the Menu button. Like the model it replaces, the new remote transmits an IR signal and is compatible with Apple's remote-ready iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models, along with the Apple TV and iPod docks.

The aluminum Apple Remote is priced at US$19 and will ship in two to four weeks.

I guess they took the IR port out of the polycarbonate MacBook since the remote would know longer match.
