Apple Store Offline Ahead of Special Media Event

Apple's online store went offline Wednesday morning and was replaced with the familiar "We'll be back soon" notice ahead of the company's "It's Only Rock and Roll" special media event. The familiar notice is a good indicator that new product announcements are on the way, and many are expecting new iPod models to be introduced.

Apple has previously used special media events in September to introduce updates to the iPod line, and since the invitation featured a dancing girl holding an iPod it will be a big surprise if there aren't any media player announcements. Many are also hoping for an announcement that The Beatles digitally remastered albums will make an appearance at the iTunes Store because the date also marks the album collection's release along with the launch of The Beatles Rock Band expansion pack, although that isn't as likely since Fab Four member Paul McCartney claimed that EMI is slowing down the process.

Apple's "It's Only Rock and Roll" media event is scheduled to start at 10AM pacific time at the Yurba Buena Center in San Francisco. Be sure to check back with The Mac Observer for our on location coverage, and follow our event coverage on Twitter at MacObserverLive and MacObserver.
