Apple Store Shows May 7 iPad 3G Ship Date

· by · News

Apple updated its online store to show the iPad with 3G support will ship by May 7 on Monday. The Web site change puts the U.S. release of the iPad 3G outside the company’s promised end of April ship date, but apparently only for new orders.

Despite the post-April ship date shown on Apple’s Web site, customers that pre-ordered their iPad 3G can still expect to get theirs by the end of April. Pre-order status for iPad 3G shipping hasn’t changed, and Apple has been emailing customers to confirm they’ll receive their multimedia tablets by the end of the month.

Apple introduced the iPad at a media event in January, and began accepting pre-orders for the tablet device in March. The Wi-Fi version shipped in the U.S. on April 3, and the company promised the Wi-Fi plus 3G version would ship before the end of April.
