Apple TV Sales Hit 250,000 in Q4

Apple CEO Steve Jobs revealed that his company sold some 250,000 during its fourth fiscal quarter. The company introduced the second generation version of the home theater appliance during the quarter and dropped the price point to US$99.

Apple has referred to the Apple TV as a hobby, although the second generation model makes it look like the company is getting a little more serious about the device. The new model offers content streaming and TV show rentals, along with Netflix on demand streaming, but doesn’t include a built-in hard drive like the previous generation did.

Apple reported Us$4.34 billion in profit on $20.3 billion in revenue for its fourth fiscal quarter. The company sold a record number 3.89 million Macs, 14.1 million iPhones, and 4.19 million iPads during the quarter.

Apple is currently trading after hours at US$299.97, down $18.03 (-5.67%).
