Apple Updates Logic: 6 & 12-Core Processors, 64-Bit

Apple updated Logic Pro and Logic Express Friday to version 9.1.2. The update improves support for some multi-core Macs, improves 64-bt support, and more.

Logic is Apple’s professional digital audio workstation (DAW) solution for the Mac, and the update is for users of Logic Studio (which contains Logic Pro), and Logic Express, the mid-level version of the software.

Apple’s patch notes:

  • Improved compatibility with 6 and 12-core Mac Pro systems
  • Support for iOS control surface apps that utilize the OSC protocol
  • REX files now supported in 64-bit mode
  • Improved compatibility with select Audio Unit plug-ins
  • The update is recommended for all users of Logic Pro 9.

The Logic Pro update is 193.01MB, while the Logic Express patch is 139.7MB.

The update is free to registered owners of version 9.x. The full version of Logic Studio is US$499, while Logic Express is $199.
