Apple Updates MacBook Air Thunderbolt Firmware

Apple released MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.1 for the Thunderbolt-enabled MacBook Air on Monday. The update addressed Thunderbolt Display compatibility issues and performance issues for Thunderbolt Target Disk Mode.

The update also improved stability for Lion Recovery mode over Internet connections.

Apple’s 27-inch Thunderbolt Display is due to ship in the coming days, making the firmware update especially important for MacBook Air owners planning on using the company’s new display with their laptop.

MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.1 is available through Apple’s Software Update application, or as a downloadable installer at the Apple Support Web site.
