Apple, Verizon Offer iPhone 4 Online

· by · News

Apple and Verizon started up online iPhone 4 sales Wednesday morning, a day ahead of the official in-store launch. The companies offered iPhone 4 pre-sales to existing Verizon customers on February 3 with plans to offer online sales to the general public starting today.

iPhone 4: Now on Verizon

Customers that prefer buying in person can get their hands on the Verizon-compatible iPhone 4 on February 10 when the combination iPod and smartphone hits store shelves.

Verizon announced it would be carrying the iPhone 4 at a media event in January. Apple built a new version of the phone that supports Verizon’s CDMA cell technology because all other iPhone models support GSM technology used by AT&T and other carriers around the world, and aren’t compatible with the Verizon network.

Pricing for the Verizon iPhone 4 is the same as the AT&T models: US$199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model.

And already there’s a rumor that Verizon is delaying a more capable Android phone so that initial Verizon iPhone purchasers don’t get buyer’s remorse and return their iPhones in the allowed 14-day return period.
